Laine laughed at the idea of keeping Harvard out of the kitchen and shook her head. "Considerin' the big one don't know he's a dog...no, they pretty much have the run of the house."
She turned to walk back into the kitchen, still talking to Cait. "Brigit there is your brother's. Brought her home with him the other day."
Picking up her glass of wine, she gestured at the cushioned window seats, the breakfast nook, barstools at the counter. "Make yourselves comfortable and what can I get y'all to drink? Eat?"
As she said the word eat, Harvard barked and wagged his tail hopefully. "Not you. You had dinner already and whatever in God's name you destroyed out in the yard."
